Sneeuwspiratie// Snowspiration

De afgelopen weken hebben jullie weinig van me gehoord, ik ben ziek geweest en hoewel ik wel lekker op mijn plekje op de bank jullie blogs heb gelezen en inspiratie heb opgedaan, was ik te moe om zelf een blog te schrijven. Rond deze tijd van het jaar speelt mijn bronchitis altijd erg op en nu had ik er een infectie bij, dus met paardenmiddelen van huisarts is het nu weer onder controle. De komende weken ga ik proberen om weer lekker actief te zijn!//

I haven't been blogging much the last weeks, I've been quite ill. I did read a lot of blogs but I was too tired to place comments to all your lovely project and pictures. Around this time of year my bronchitis plays up and I had a horrid infection, so thanks to my GP's miraclemedicine I feel a bit better now. Although I am quite tired still. I hope to be a bit more active the following weeks.

Ondanks de ziekte hadden we wel een verjaardag (mijn jongste zoon werd 8) en het afscheid op school. Onze jongste 3 kinderen gaan vanaf 3 januari naar een andere school toe. We hopen dat het voor hun alleen maar leuker en beter is op de andere school maar toch was het afscheid best emotioneel, leerkrachten waar ik al jaren contact mee heb, die ons prima hebben begeleid, waar je nu afscheid van neemt. Heftig! Voor de kinderen was het net zo.//

Despite me feeling not so good, we did have a birthday (my son turned 8 years old) and we said goodbye at school. As of January 3rd our youngest 3 children are going to visit another school. The goodbye's at the old school were very emotional, we had to say goodbye to teachers that have guided an taught our children for years. Very emotional for both the kids and for us. We hope they have a wonderful time at their new school.

I've been making some Christmasdecorations.

Ook ben ik begonnen aan iets wat ik al langer wilde proberen, Tunisch haken! Dit project is gemaakt met de Tunische basissteek. Het is heel verslavend, lijkt heel ingewikkeld maar is het niet als je het eenmaal doorhebt! Voor meer informatie over Tunisch haken kijk eens op youtube. (zoekterm; Tunisian crochet ) Zoveel mooie steken!

Met Tunisch haken werk je twee keer op en neer voor één rij, en doordat je op de helft van zo'n rij een nieuwe kleur toevoegt krijg je dus het effect dat het verloopt. Ik heb mijn Rico Creative katoen gebruikt. (te koop in mijn shop; www.craftyvalley.nl)//

I also started something that I wanted to do for a while now, Tunisian crochet! I made this project with the Tunisian simple stitch. It is very addictive and seems very complicated but once you get the hang of it, it is real simple! For more Tunisian stitch information go to youtube and search Tunisian crochet, so many stitches to make!

With Tunisian crochet you work two times accross to make 1 row. So when you change colours halfway through than you get this nice blending effect. I used my Rico Creative cotton (for sale in my shop: www.craftyvalley.com)

Ik ben bijna klaar met de hexagonsjaal, hij is zo mooi! Deze zal ik te koop gaan aanbieden op Etsy, waar ik ook een winkeltje ben begonnen. (www.etsy.com, grote online site voor handgemaakte artikelen)//

Raad eens wat ik kreeg van mijn man omdat ik zo ziekjes was;

Een hele mooie theeset van ChaCult en ik had al staan kijken bij het leuke koffie en theewinkeltje bij ons in de stad naar deze mooie set en toen kocht de lieverd precies diegene die ik mooi vond! Staat zo mooi op mijn hexagon tafelkleedje.//

Ik heb een leuke theemuts gemaakt, anders werd de thee zo snel koud. Ik gebruikte hiervoor altijd een thermoskan maar deze theepot is té leuk om niet te gebruiken!//

I immediatly made a cute teacosy, to make sure the tea stays warm! I just hád to use the teapot, love it so much!

Voor nu weer genoeg gekletst! Zal snel mijn blog-achterstand proberen in te halen!//

Een gehaakt Kerstfeest!/ A crochet Christmas!

Al wekenlang kijk ik vol verlangen naar alle gehaakte kerstornamenten, kerstguirlandes en andere gehaakte kerstversieringen. Zo veel inspiratie maar ik had nog zoveel projecten om af te maken! Nu kon ik er eindelijk aan beginnen. Erg leuk om te doen! En ik zou niet Saskia heten of ik probeer iets zelf te verzinnen, maar het begon allemaal met Kabeltrui, een mede-Ravelry-lid die van mijn Lunaria patroon een heel leuk kerstornament had gemaakt. Mooi hé? Toen kon ik niet meer achterblijven, dus heb ik er zelf ook een paar gemaakt van mijn Rico essentials dk cotton. //

I have been looking at all the crochet Christmasornaments , guirlandes and other Christmassy crochet projects and I had to wait before my other projects were finished before I got to the Christmassy projects!

I finally got around to it the last couple of days. I wouldn't be Saskia if I did not try to desing my own ornaments. But first I saw this lovely Lunaria star tured into a Christmasornament. Good job Kabeltrui! Nice eh? When I saw this one I just had to make some!

Ik heb ook nog gestoeid met het puffsteek0patroon wat ik wil maken. Lief hé, deze kleine bloempies! Gemaakt met het merino dk wol van Rico.//

December uitzinnigheid// December frenzy

November en december zijn vreselijk drukke maanden bij ons, jullie hebben de verjaardagstaarten al voorbij zien komen de afgelopen weken. Gisteren hebben we Sinterklaas gevierd en vrijdag is mijn jongste zoon jarig. Deze tijd van het jaar heb ik altijd het gevoel dat ik op een denderende trein zit die maar moet blijven rijden! Maar, ook heel veel speciale en mooie momenten, en die koester ik natuurlijk.

Deze bloemetjes zijn voor Michaja, ze maakt er zulke leuke sleutelhangers van! De kleuren zijn iets feller in het echt want ze zijn gemaakt met mijn mobiele telefoon maar ik vond leuk om jullie even wat kleur te laten 

zien!

November and december are crazy busy at the valley! You have seen the birthdaycakes fly by! Yesterday we celebrated the Saint Nicholas celebration, which is very similar to Christmas for children. It was a lot of fun and our kids are spoiled rotten! :)

In this time of year I get the feeling that I am on a train that keeps on going and I have to do anything to keep it moving forwards, very hectic and stressful indeed. But full of lovely moments to cherish so I try and see all the nice moments.

These flowers are for Michaja,  she makes nice keychains out of them. The colours are not so bright as they are IRL but that it because I photographed them with my mobile phone. I hope you enjoy the colours and happiness of the flowers too!

Op verzoek van de Sint heb ik ook nog een tas gehaakt voor onze oudste meid. Ze vond hem prachtig en zei dat het haar favoriete cadeau is! Ik ben er blij mee want ze heeft op dit moment veel puber-driftaanvallen en dit was even een mooi moment in haar humeurigheid. Op de foto is hij nog niet helemaal af, ik laat jullie deze week de tas wel zien nu hij af is, misschien wil ze hem wel voor me showen! :)//

Saint Nicholas asked me to make a crocheted bag for our eldest girl, and I made one ofcourse! She loves it and said it was her favorite gift, which I am happy with because she is having loads of teenage tantrums these days, so her approval does mean a lot to me, a bit of brightness in her moodyness. In the picture it is not quite finished yet, maybe she'll want to be my bag-model this time! :)

Komende week meer over de puff-steek en de sjaal die ik ervoor maak. Tot dan! Vergeet niet, bij 300 volgers komt er weer een Give-away!

Taart en meer../ Cake and more..

Gisteren werd ons kleinste meisje 6 jaar! Onze minimeis al weer 6! Pfoe! 

Mevrouw weet precies wat ze wil! En dus werd mij vriendelijk doch zeer beslist medegedeeld dat ze een Toy Story taart wilde.... Een Toy Story taart! (Ze vind Toy Story 3 geweldig!) Ik heb me suf gepiekerd hoe ik dat ging doen. Ik zag mezelf geen Woody of Buzz sculptuur maken.. Dus heb ik het opgelost door de tekst te maken, en de juiste achtergrond, en dan poppetjes van Toy Story er op te zetten. 

Mevrouw heeft hem goedgekeurd!//

Yesterday our little girl became six years old! Our babygirl is already six yrs old! Not so much a babygirl anymore!

And Miss Nova knew exactly what she wanted, a Toy Story cake! (She loves Toy Story 3!)
 I really had a bad nights sleep thinking how to make a cake like that! I did not feel like sculptng a Woody or Buzz! So I made the background and letters in Toy Story style and put some figurines on top of the cake.
(The text means= Nova turns 6!)

 Ik moet zeggen, de 5 uur die ik er aan heb gewerkt waren het wel waard, bijna zonde om op te eten!
I must say, the five hours I put into the cake were worth it! Almost a shame to eat it!

Van te voren heb ik wel geprobeerd om haar goed uit te vragen, wilde ze niet liever een Hello Kitty-taart, dat leek mij een stuk makkelijker! Maar nee, dit was wat ze wilde! Ik vind het heerlijk dat ze niet koos voor een standfaard Barbie taart ofzo, ze heeft echt een eigen mening, zo wil ze ook brandweervrouw worden EN...prinses! :)//

I did try to ask her if she did not want another kind of cake, I did not want her to be dissapointed but her mind was made up! A Hello-Kitty-cake would have been much easier to make! But no, Miss Nova had her mind made up!  I love the fact that she has her own opinion and did not choose a Barbie-cake or something. She wants to be a firelady (female fireman) AND.....a princess! when she grows up. :)//

Ze heeft vanalles gekregen, twee huizen van lego, een barbie van Prinses en de kikker, een knuffel hertje (Bambi!) en nog veel meer....//

She got a lot of nice gifts, like two legohouses, a Princess and the frog-barbie, a stuffed animal (A deer, Bambi!) and lots more...

En wantjes!! Net op tijd voor de sneeuw! Op haar verjaardag!//

And mittens! Just in time for the snow! On her birthday!

Nieuw garen en projecten afmaken//New yarn and finishing projects

Kennen jullie dat? Bezig zijn met een project en het maar niet afkrijgen, mijn naamloze tas is zo'n project. Ondertussen haak ik wanten voor de kinderen en mezelf, ik maak alvast wat kerst-ornamenten en ik kan niet afblijven van mijn nieuwe garen, ik moest het uitproberen!

Do any of you recognize this? I just can't seem to finish my nameless bag! In the meanwhile I make mittens for the kids and myself, I crochet some Christmas ornaments and I can't stop trying my newly arrived yarn!

Dit is Rico essentials soft merino dk! Dit garen is 100% merinowol. Het prikt niet en is superzacht! Ik heb zelf al dingen gemaakt met de Aran ( dikkere wol voor naald 4-5) versie maar deze is echt een lust voor het oog! Het split niet, het is zacht en glanst een beetje. En de kleuren! Ik had wel 13 kleuren willen kopen maar ik heb deze 3 eerst gekocht om het te testen. Deze drie staan vanavond in de shop, wil je nog meer kleuren proberen, of de catalogus inzien, laat het even weten dan stuur ik je die op! Ja, dit garen is duurder dan de voordelig Rico cotton maar het is het waard! Geweldige kwaliteit!//

Hieronder de soft merino aran, dikker en in andere kleurstelling als de dk (dunner garen) maar net zo lekker zacht! Ideaal voor mutsen, sjaals en wanten. (Mijn sjaal is hier ook van gemaakt, zie de oudere blogposts)//

Vandaag een Toy Story taart maken voor mijn kleine meisje, we vieren morgen haar zesde verjaardag!//
